new labels in store will Oct. 09
Last week saw some new labels signing up using our unique electronic signup process. People seem to like the electronic signup, I think its a great way for independent labels to get their music for sale electronically. Was a bit of a furore on dubstepforum, with some people worrying that we are a scam ha ha. Well bless them, half of those dubsteppers are 13 year old estate kids so I guess its understandable :P
First up we have a fresh label out of Romania DubKraft which will be bringing all kinds of electronic sounds, from dubstep to downbeat. The first outing Bad boys spliffin is some deep dubstep bisness, check it out.
Next there is no need to introduce Nine2Five Records of out Helsinki, one of the best established breakbeat labels from Finland. Hold tight for some fresh stuff and full back catalogue coming soon, for the first time available digitaly in non lossy FLAC. Browse all release from nine2five here.
We have some more jazz tinged stuff from Mental Recordings, with their full back catalogue now in store. They've been getting positive reviews from across the spectrum, including this comment from XLR8R for their latest release Land of the rising sun : ... There's some nice downtempo with jazzy kit work and even some delicate drum & bass on the b, but a1 is what I'm feeling. "The Land of the Rising Sun" pairs a crisp, uptempo broken beat with minor-chord keys under heavy compression and reverb to make a solid tune with a spacey, 3 a.m vibe.

last.fm integration live will Sep. 27
This week we added last.fm integration to the site, which gives people surfing the releases some nice info about related artists and popular tags for the given release.
You can check out how its working for example on page http://www.digital-tunes.net/releases/little_angel_rec_pres__the_lounge_vol_1.
Anyhow be sure to check out last.fm, they've got some really nice things going on, plus if you feel geeky you can use the webservices. Oh and must send a big up to Felix from last.fm for helping us out with the licensing issues and stuff.
digital-tunes.net @ MBar Helsinki will Sep. 14
This friday the 15th of September kicks off our monthly night in MBar, on every third friday of the month, with residents myself and sir Physics.
This week we've got special guest Mark Slavin in from Estonia who will be, um, slavin away on the decks i guess (sorry), bringing us some drum and bass, house and other good bits! I'll be playing the usual bruk stuff plus some deeper things and a bit of dubstep ... probably leave the drum and bass up to the boys. Physics of course will be playing his usual duplate heavy shit, which is always worth a listen :D.
Anyhow if your in the Helsinki area drop down and say hello!
site updates will Sep. 03
Did a few site updates today, added the digital-tunes story, as well as some funky ajax paging/sorting, plus tweaked the css and fixed a few bugs. Hopefully now the sites a bit clearer, though i guess you pink haters still aint gonna be happy :D Pink is so Web 2.0 dontcha know?
Also now theres translations ready for German, French, Italian and Finnish, with Spanish, Swedish and Estonian in the pipeline. If you speak a language that we dont have then drop us a mail at info@digital-tunes.net and maybe we can sort something out ;)
Anyways hope you likes.... new features already in the pipeline so watch this space :)
jerona fruits in Helsinki will Aug. 27
So the guys from Jerona Fruits popped over for a few days here to Helsinki. I headed down to the gig last Thursday in Rose Garden which went really well, nice to hear some quality drum and bass on a decent sound system. Then had the chance to have a chat and a few beers with everyone in MBar on Saturday, ended up on a bit of a bender and didnt get back to my flat til 7am, deary me.
Anyway good to see the Jerona boys, looking forward to hearing some new beats from them.
